Georg Eckert Research Prize
2013 Call for Applications

In 2014 the Georg Eckert Institute for International Textbook Research will award its biennial prize for academic excellence in the field of international research into educational media. The prize, which is sponsored by the Westermann Publishing Group in Braunschweig, will be awarded to an academic work that addresses cultural, political, sociological or educational practice aspects of textbooks and educational media.

The prize is endowed with 2,500 euro and will also cover printing costs of up to 2,500 euro for publication in the academic book series “Eckert. Die Schriftenreihe. Studien des Georg-Eckert-Instituts zur internationalen Bildungsmedienforschung” (Eckert. The book series. Studies by the Georg Eckert Institute on research findings in international educational media) published by V&R unipress, Göttingen. If the work has already been published, the printing expenses may be used to subsidise a conference or a research grant at the Georg Eckert Institute. The prize may be shared between multiple recipients.

The prize will be awarded to a monograph, doctoral thesis or post-doctoral work of outstanding academic quality or to an equally exceptional work by more than one author, in which case the prize will be awarded to the editor or editors. We will accept entries from authors directly as well as nominations by third parties. The work entered may be written in German or English and must be either unpublished or have gone to press no longer than two years before the date of entry for the award.

Queen Margaret University offers up to 15 competitive international scholarships to pursue undergraduate or postgraduate degree in the academic year beginning September 2013. These scholarships are worth £2,000 to £5,000 each for new international students. These scholarships are granted as a reduction of the tuition fee and cannot be used as payment towards any deposit required for programme. Applications can be made by students who have received an offer of a place of study at the university. Application should be submitted till 31^st May 2013.
